Landscaping is the homeowners dream to a beautiful yard. Unfortunately there are landscaping contractors that take advantage of this dream. There are also companies that will provide honest and quality service for a very good price. When planning on modifying your property you should look into what you want before you call a landscaping designer. Doing so provides a personal touch to the end product of your landscape.

The Yellow Pages and Google are a few ways in which you can find a landscaping designer. When using Google for your search, make sure you use Google Local Search. Or you can also be very specific in your keywords if you use the regular Google search box. Word of mouth is also another source that you can use. And it can ultimately be the best route for you to go. Ask around the neighborhood about good landscaping companies. Go to your neighbors and ask questions about what company did their landscaping project. This is a great opportunity to view a sample of the companies work before you call. There are a few precautions you need to make sure of before you call a landscape contractor. You should always look for a Better Business Bureau report of the company you plan on working with. If the company has no report from the BBB ask them why they haven’t filed with the BBB. If you don’t receive an answer or you figure out they are lying, select another choice of service.

Always ask for photos of the work that they have done. If the landscaping contractor has been around for while, they should have a portfolio of completed work. By asking for pictures you can get a glimpse of what your end product will be. Never allow a company to landscape your yard without them showing that they have experience. To do the job all over again can be stressful and costly.  Make sure that landscape contractor has a schedule for the entire plan. Do not allow the contractor to tell you the project timeline cannot be determined. Some companies do this and end up doing a two week project in one month. Going this route, you end up paying far more than you expected.

Let’s say that you wanted your entire front yard to be remodeled. You’re front yard is about .25 of an acre. You tell you landscaping designer that all you want is a few flower beds and some bushes. If the job you want is that small and you can’t receive a time frame for that job, consider choosing another contractor. As always take your time in choosing a landscape designer. This process should not be rushed in any point. Beware of companies that cannot show you a portfolio or a BBB report. Word of mouth is always the best route to go. You can get a quick and honest report about a landscaping company from a neighbor or a friend. Remember that you get what you pay for. If you want to get the best results you will have to pay for it.
